Gorilla Hammers has a rich history that spans over eight decades, rooted in a tradition of innovation, quality, and exceptional service. It all began in 1938, when Tedesco Pump Service, a petroleum service company, was established by the original Joe Tedesco. While traveling throughout the northeast, Joe repaired gas nozzles and gas pumps, laying the foundation for
what would become Gorilla Hammers. Following his father’s sudden passing, Joe Tedesco II took over the family business at just 18 years old. Building on his father’s legacy, Joe expanded operations to include hydraulic and pneumatic repair services, serving a diverse range of industries, including industrial, automotive, and utility sectors. Under Joe’s leadership, the business flourished, evolving from a one-man operation to a fully equipped facility employing several technicians. In 1979, Joe pursued his passion for auctioneering, passing the reins to his younger brother, Robert. Renamed Tech Hydraulics Inc., the business experienced further growth, particularly with the influx of heavy equipment demands driven by the Central Artery Construction Project, known as the Big Dig. Recognizing the potential of hydraulic hammers, Robert seized the opportunity to expand the company’s offerings.

In 2003, Robert approached Joe’s son, Joe Tedesco III, with a vision to shift the business’s focus towards hydraulic hammers, rebranding it Gorilla Hydraulic Breakers. Embracing the opportunity, Joe III bought out Robert’s existing partner and spearheaded the transition, determined to deliver a level of customer service without peer involvement in the demolition and excavation business while delivering innovative, reliable, and supported hydraulic breakers on a national level. But first, the service facility was expanded to properly support the new venture, stocked with state-of-the-art equipment and manned by growth-oriented, honest people who not only knew the product but shared the company’s vision and understood the urgency of customer
service.

Over the years, Gorilla has continued to evolve, introducing its line of hydraulic hammers, known as the GHB and GXS lines.
