Our light range hammers, carried by 1 to 12-ton skid steers, backhoes or mini-excavators are rated up to 1,500 ft-lbs. of impact, and are typically used for concrete and light trenching or utility work. Our medium hammers, starting at 2,500 ft-lbs. of striking power and carried by 9 to 18-ton excavators, are mainly used for small site preparation, rock breaking, ledge removal or expansive concrete demolition projects. For larger site preparation, quarry applications, breaking oversized boulders/shot rock, and heavily reinforced concrete demolition projects, you’ll need a larger, high impact force hydraulic hammer of at least 4,000 ft-lbs and a minimum 16-ton excavator, like a PC160 or Cat 314.
